No. Rather, Allah is not a name. Allah literally means “The God” AL (The) ILAH (God).

In Islam,

  • God doesn’t have a name.
  • God doesn’t have an appearance.
  • Anything or anyone that you can imagine, is not God.
  • God doesn’t have any symbols.
  • God doesn’t have any gender.
  • God doesn’t have any partners.

Many translations of the Bible in the Middle East, Africa and most of Asia uses the word “Allah” as a replacement for “God” or “The Father”. These include Arabic, Turkish and Azarbaijani in the Middle East; Bambara, Fulfulde, Hausa, and Mankinka in Africa; and Malay, Indonesian, Javanese, Madurese and Sundanese in Asia.

So is it wrong for others to use the word “Allah” as “God”? No.

Is it wrong for attributing “Allah” or “God” with partners and sons? Yes.

Thus, the majority of Muslims are offended by the fact that “Allah” is used in a book which attributes “God” with having a son.

“He is The God, [who is] One. God, the Eternal, Absolute; He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent.” (Quran 112)

“He is The God, [who is] One. God, the Eternal, Absolute; He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent.” (Quran 112)

Yes, what God cannot do elevates Him, and is a part of His sovereignty.

  • God cannot create another God. He is the One, the Only.
  • God cannot lie.
  • God cannot make mistakes.
  • God cannot contradict Himself.
  • God cannot throw you out of His kingdom.
  • God cannot make something more powerful than Himself.
  • God cannot make something heavier than what He Himself cannot lift.
  • God cannot be dirty.
  • God cannot be tired.
  • God cannot be born.

“Surely for Allah Hath power over all things” (Quran 2:148)

God knows best.

A question asked by the Angels when God decided to create Adam, and God answered “Indeed, I know that which you do not know.” (Quran 2:30)

We are tested as a proof for all God’s creations, Humans, Djinns, Angels etc. For God is omnipotent, but His creations are not.

No one can question God’s reward or punishment on The Day of Judgement as the proof will be presented in front of everyone. Everything and everyone will be a witness to why a man is put to Hell or Heaven.

God has written and decided certain things, not everything. For example, our Birth, Names, Parents, Race, Death etc. As for the rest of our fate and destiny, it is totally upon us to choose and decide. We are created as “Moral” beings, as opposed to “carnal” beings like animals.

We are given the freedom of choice along with sound wisdom. Our evil doings and misdeeds are to be paid by ourselves, for we chose to make those decisions, not God.

A madman nor an animal can not be held responsible for their actions, as they are are not “moral” nor are they given the freedom of choice.

Similarly, a man cannot kill a kitten and say “God had written it, and I merely did what God wrote”.

Satan was a Djinn, that is why he had the choice of not prostrating to Adam. If Satan was an angel, he wouldn’t have the choice, but to do whatever God commanded him to do.

No. God’s criteria to save ourselves from His punishment is mentioned:

  1. Believe in One God. (Allah means Al Ilah, which translates to The God)
  2. Believe that we will be Judged for out actions in The Last Day
  3. Do good deeds

Regardless if you are called or call yourselves a Jew, a Christian, a Sabean or a Muslim.

“Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews or Christians or Sabeans [before Prophet Muhammad] – those [among them] who believed in God and the Last Day and did righteousness – will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.” (Quran 2:62)

Until, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said, “O ants, enter your dwellings that you not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers while they perceive not.” (Quran 27:18)

“O you who believe! Take not for Auliya’ (protectors or helpers or friends) disbelievers instead of believers.” (Quran 4:144)

Who are the disbelievers? The Jews? Christians? Hindus? Buddhists? No. Disbelievers are those who are given clear proof about God and His teachings, yet he chooses to disbelieve.

A similar teaching is recorded in the Bible:

“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.” (2 Corinthians 6:14)

Why? Their beliefs include false beliefs, Satan worship, human sacrifice, animal abuse, homosexuality, intoxicants, gambling etc. Would a parent want his child mixing around with those who practice these things? Certainly not.

“Until, when he reached the setting place of the sun, he found it setting in a spring of black muddy (or hot) water.” (Quran 18:86)

Quran mentions what he saw with his eyes from his perception. Who is he? The answer lies in the verses before 18:86:

“And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say, “I will recite to you about him a report.” Indeed We established him upon the earth, and We gave him to everything a way. So he followed a way, Until, when he reached the setting place of the sun, he found it setting in a spring of black muddy (or hot) water.” (Quran 18:83-86)

God knows the Sun is distant from earth, He created it. But from Dhul-Qarnayn’s vision, it seemed as if the sun was setting into the water. This is how accurate the Quran is.
