second most realiable source of islam

WRITING HADITHS WERE FORBIDDEN
Hadiths were compiled generations after the death of Muhammad (pbuh), his companions and most of his followers because it is believed that the prophet did not want the words of men to be mixed with the revelation given to him, The Holy Quran.
According to Muḥammad Rashīd Riḍā, Hadiths were forbidden to be written during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) using the following verse as evidence:
- Narrated Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, in Sahih Muslim:
لَا تَكْتُبُوا عَنِّي شَيْئًا إِلَّا الْقُرْآنَ ، فَمَنْ كَتَبَ عَنِّي شَيْئًا غَيْرَ الْقُرْآنِ ، فَلْيَمْحُهُ.
“Do not record anything from me except the Qurʾan. Whoever has recorded anything from me other than the Qurʾan, let him efface it.”
Also mentioned in other sources:
- Abu Said Al Khudri in Sunnan of Al Tirmidhi: “We asked the Prophet permission to write and he declined”
- Abu Huraira in Ahmed Ibn Hanbal in his Musnad: When the Prophet heard what they were writing he became angry and said “Books other than the book of God? Praise the book of God and be faithful to it”. Abu Huraira said we gathered everything we had written in one pile and set it on fire.
STRICT RULES OF COMPILING HADITH
Muslim scholars and Historians finds Imam Bukhari gave meticulous attention to detail when it came to the compilation of hadiths. He had far stricter rules than other hadith scholars for accepting a hadith as authentic.
His most lasting contribution to Islamic sciences was his compilation of over 7000 hadiths, which he called
“Al-Jaami’ al-Sahih al-Musnad al-Mukhtasar min Umur Rasool Allah wa sunanihi wa Ayyamihi”
“The Abridged Collection of Authentic Hadith with Connected Chains regarding Matters Pertaining to the Prophet, His practices and His Times”.
It is said that he studied where and when the narrators lived, in order to make sure that if someone narrates from someone else, they must both have been in the same place at the same time and have actually met and discussed hadith. Other hadith scholars did not all require evidence that two consecutive narrators met personally, but Imam Bukhari’s strict requirements is what makes his compilation unique. Imam Bukhari also studied the lives of narrators, to make sure they were trustworthy and would not fabricate, or change the wording of a hadith.
Using his strict guidelines for hadith acceptance, Imam Bukhari was the first to make a systematic approach to classifying hadith.
NOT WITHOUT CONTROVERSIES
Sworn to be the second most authentic and reliable source of guidance in Islam after the Quran, yet, it is rejected totally by some, criticized by many, studied and followed by many, abused and misinterpreted by many, debated by many and pledged to be faultless by many.
So what makes hadiths such a controversial source of guidance?
Chinese Whispers / The Telephone Game
Not to be racist, but the name of the game is “Chinese Whispers” or “The Telephone Game” in the United States.
Definition: “a game in which a message is distorted by being passed around in a whisper.” (Oxford languages)
When it comes to God and His divine message, it is certainly justified for people to be afraid that if a message can be distorted in less than ten minutes, how reliable can a message be after thousands of years?
Types of Hadith based on reliability
- Sahih (Authentic)
Transmitted through an unbroken chain of narrators all of whom are of sound character and memory. Such a hadith should not clash with a more reliable report and must not suffer from any other hidden defect.
- Hasan (Good)
Transmitted through an unbroken chain of narrators all of whom are of sound character but weak memory. This hadith should not clash with a more reliable report and must not suffer from any other hidden defect.
- Daif (Weak)
Which cannot gain the status of hasan because it lacks one or more elements of a hasan hadith. (For example, if the narrator is not of sound memory and sound character, or if there is a hidden fault in the narrative or if the chain of narrators is broken).
- Mawdu (Fabricated)
Fabricated and wrongly ascribed to Muhammad.
- Maqlub (Inverted)
It is that hadith, in two different narrations of which the names of narrators have been changed.
How reliable is Bukhari?
The famous anti-Hadith reference:
Though many scholars and historians claim that Sahih Bukhari is Authentic, yet many find faults in Bukhari and reject this claim totally. One of the most famous reason being Sahih al-Bukhari 5242, In-book reference : Book 67, Hadith 175, USC-MSA web (English) reference : Vol. 7, Book 62, Hadith 169:
(The Prophet) Solomon son of (the Prophet) David said, “Tonight I will go round (i.e. have sexual relations with) one hundred women (my wives) everyone of whom will deliver a male child who will fight in Allah’s Cause.” On that an Angel said to him, “Say: ‘If Allah will.’ ” But Solomon did not say it and forgot to say it. Then he had sexual relations with them but none of them delivered any child except one who delivered a half person. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “If Solomon had said: ‘If Allah will,’ Allah would have fulfilled his (above) desire and that saying would have made him more hopeful.”
1. Muhammad (pbuh) didn’t even know about the history of Mary, how could he know about a Prophet hundreds of years before Jesus if it was not revealed by God?
“These are events which you have not seen, which We reveal to you, and you were not there when they cast their pens as to which of them should be responsible for Mary.” (Quran 3:44)
2. If God revealed this to Muhammad (pbuh), why is it not recorded in the Quran? This would mean Muhammad (pbuh) kept some parts the of revelation to himself, which is a great false accusation.
IT IS COMPULSORY TO FOLLOW MUHAMMAD (PBUH)
Acceptance of Hadith & Sunnah
Sunnah Literal Definition:
Sunnah Technical Definition:
Sayings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad and is the second source of knowledge for Muslims. This can be seen at prayer time or Salat – whilst the Qur’an explains when and how one should pray, Muslims use the example of Muhammad to know what words and movements to use during prayer.
Most Muslims believe that it is compulsory to believe in the Hadiths:
“Obey Allah and obey the Messenger” (Quran 24:54)
“And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad) gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it), and fear Allah. (Quran 59:7)
“We sent no Messenger, but to be obeyed by Allah’s Leave” (Quran 4:64)
Some believes that this has nothing to do with the Hadith compilers and their books at all. Rather, these verses are pointing to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the Quran.
“We fear and obey Allah, the Messenger (pbuh) and the Message (Quran) given to him. We abstain from what he forbids us, for he forbids us not except what Allah has forbidden.”
(Quran 48:23) سُنَّةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلُ ۖ وَلَنْ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ اللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًا
Transliteration: “Sunnata Allahi allatee qad khalat min qablu walan tajida lisunnati Allahi tabdeelan”
Translation: [This is] the way of Allah (Sunnat Allah) which applied in the past, and you will not find any alteration in the way of Allah (Sunnat Allah).
They believe that following the Messenger means following Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), not Bukhari and the rest of the Hadith compilers.
Rejection of Hadith & Sunnah
These people claim that they do not reject Muhammad (pbuh) and his teachings, rather, they say Muhammad (pbuh) is the “Living Quran” and the teachings of Muhammad is the Quran, not the Hadith.
“Quran = Muhammad ≠ Hadith ≠ Sunnah“
So what is the value of Hadith to them? They are merely stories written about the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), compiled by other people which may or may not be true and classify them according to their reliability, Sahih (Authentic), Hasan (Good), Daif (Weak) and Mawdu (Fabricated).
Muhammad (pbuh) followed the revelation from God:
“I tell you not that with me are the treasures of Allah, nor do I know what is hidden, nor do I tell you I am an angel. I but follow what is revealed to me (Quran).” (Quran 6:50)
“I do not follow anything but that which is revealed to me (Quran)” (Quran 46:9)
What was the revelation?
“We have given them a scripture (Quran) that is fully detailed, with knowledge, guidance, and mercy for the people who believe.” (Quran 7:52)
“Stories” (Hadith) will take you away from the revelation:
Shall I then seek a judge other than Allah? And He it is Who revealed to you the Book (Quran) explained in detail; and those who received the Book knows that it is revealed by your Lord in truth, therefore you should not be of the doubters.
And the word of your Lord has been accomplished truly and justly; there is none who can change His words, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
And if you obey most of those in the earth, they will lead you away from Allah’s way; they follow assumptions and they only lie. (Quran 6:114-116)
Verses containing "Hadith" in the Quran
That Day, those who disbelieved and disobeyed the Messenger will wish they could be covered by the earth. And they will not conceal from Allah a [single] hadith. (Quran 4:42)
“God, there is no god but He. He will gather you for the day of resurrection in which there is no doubt. Who is more truthful in hadith than God?” (Quran 4:87)
“Did they not look at the dominion of heavens and earth, and all that God has created?. Perhaps their time is coming near; so in which hadith after this will they have faith?” (Quran 7:185)
“In their stories is a lesson for the people of intelligence. It was not a hadith that was invented, but an authentication of what is already present and a detailing of all things, and a guidance and mercy to a people who have faith.” (Quran 12:111)
“Every time there came to a nation their messenger, they denied him. So We made them follow one another, and We made them a hadith. So away with a people who do not believe.” (Quran 23:44)
“And from the people, there are those who accept baseless hadith to mislead from the path of God without knowledge, and takes it as entertainment. Those will have a humiliating retribution.” (Quran 31:6)
“So in what hadith after this (Quran) will they believe?” (Quran 77:50)
Go blind by rejecting Hadiths totally? How ignorant can one be?
What would happen if all the Hadith in the world were burned or one was to reject the Hadith totally? How would Muslims pray, take ablution, marry, divorce, fast etc.?
Their answer is quite simple. Follow the Quran, and as for Sunnah and the rest of the details, go to Mecca, the place of birth and death of Muhammad (pbuh). They will be able to witness how the Prophet prayed, take ablution etc.
They believe this is the reason why God made it compulsory for Muslims to perform Hajj (Pilgrimage) at least once in their lifetime, so that they can witness the way of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and gain the title of “Haji” (one who had performed Hajj) so that others can also learn from them when they return to their homeland.
HADITHS AGAINST THE QURAN'S TEACHINGS
The Prophet said “None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 15, In-book reference: Book 2, Hadith 8, USC-MSA web: Vol. 1, Book 2, Hadith 15)
What did Allah ask Muhammad (pbuh) to say?;
“My prayer, my offering, my life and my death are all for Allah, the Lord of all the worlds” (Quran 6:162)
Hadith 1: Ibn ‘Abbas said:
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Whoever changes his religion, kill him.'”

Hadith 2: Narrated Ibn ‘Umar:
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ), and offer the prayers perfectly and give the obligatory charity, so if they perform that, then they save their lives and property from me except for Islamic laws and then their reckoning (accounts) will be done by Allah.”

“And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they cease, verily Allah doth see all that they do.” (Quran 8:39)
Law of Islam is to fight is only when oppressed. Muslims are not allowed to initiate a war.
“There is no compulsion in religion.” (2:256)
“”The truth is from your Lord.” Then whosoever wills, let him believe, and whosoever wills, let him disbelieve.” (Quran 28:29)
And had your Lord willed, those on earth would have believed, all of them together. So, will you (O Muhammad SAW) then compel mankind, until they become believers? (Quran 10:99)
Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed. Allah does not like transgressors. (Quran 2:190)
So remind them (O Muhammad), you are only a one who reminds. You are not a dictator over them.” (Quran 88:21-22)

“And test the orphans [in their abilities] until they reach marriageable age. Then if you perceive in them sound judgement, release their property to them.” (Quran 4:6)
The marriageable age in Islam = One who has reached puberty and sound judgment.
“And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.” (Quran 30:21)
It is doubtful that a six or nine-year-old child would find more tranquility and affection in her husband, instead of her own parents.
Hadith 1: ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab said: “Verily Allah sent Muhammad (ﷺ) with the truth, and he revealed the Book to him. Among what was revealed to him was the Ayah of stoning. So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stoned, and we stoned after him. I fear that time will pass over the people such that someone will say ‘We do not see stoning in the Book of Allah.’ They will be misguided by leaving an obligation which Allah revealed. Indeed stoning is the retribution for the adulterer if he was married and the evidence has been established, or due to pregnancy, or confession.”

- Stoning as punishment is not mentioned in the Quran.
- Animals are not bound by the Laws of the Quran, so Amr bin Maimun is considered to commit a sin of killing an animal.
- How did Amr Bin Maimum know that the she-monkey committed illegal sexual intercourse?
- What does the act of Amr Bin Maimun has to do with Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and why is this recorded by Bukhari?
The woman or man found guilty of sexual intercourse – lash each one of them with a hundred lashes, and do not be taken by pity for them in the religion of Allah , if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment. (Quran 24:2)
And those who accuse chaste women and then do not produce four witnesses – lash them with eighty lashes and do not accept from them testimony ever after. And those are the defiantly disobedient, (Quran 24:4)
Except for those who repent thereafter and reform, for indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (Quran 24:5)
Narrated Atiyyah al-Qurazi: I was among the captives of Banu Qurayzah. They (the Companions) examined us, and those who had begun to grow hair (pubes) were killed, and those who had not were not killed. I was among those who had not grown hair.

- Killing of captives are forbidden, adults as well as children.
- A mockery of the companions of Prophet (pbuh).
- Puberty can be identified by the beard, chest hair or arm-pit hair; motive of examining pubic hair is an act of perversion.
O Prophet! Say to the captives that are in your hands: “If Allah knows any good in your hearts, He will give you something better than what has been taken from you, and He will forgive you, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Quran 8:70)
And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, [Saying], “We feed you only for the countenance of Allah . We wish not from you reward or gratitude. Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful.” (Quran 76:5-10)
Women cannot be leaders:
Narrated Abu Bakra: During the days (of the battle) of Al-Jamal, Allah benefited me with a word I had heard from Allah’s Apostle after I had been about to join the Companions of Al-Jamal (i.e. the camel) and fight along with them. When Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) was informed that the Persians had crowned the daughter of Khosrau as their ruler, he said, “Such people as ruled by a lady will never be successful.”

The age of Hazrat Aisha can be easily calculated from the age of her elder sister Hazrat Asma who was 10 years older.
Waliuddin Muhammad Abdullah Al-Khateeb al Amri Tabrizi the famous author of Mishkath, in his biography of narrators (Asma ur Rijal), writes:
Hazrat Asma died in the year 73 Hijri at the age of 100.
Asma was 27 years old
Therefore, by deducting 73, the year of Hazrat Asma’s death, from 100, her age at that time, we can easily conclude that she was 27 years old during Hijra.
This puts the age of Hazrat Aisha at 17 during the same period
As all biographers of the Prophet agree that he consummated his marriage with Hazrat Aisha in the year 2 Hijri it can be conclusively said that she was 19 at that time and not nine as alleged in the aforementioned hadiths.
Narrated `Abdullah: The Prophet (ﷺ) went out to answer the call of nature and asked me to bring three stones. I found two stones and searched for the third but could not find it. So took a dried piece of dung and brought it to him. He took the two stones and threw away the dung and said, “This is a filthy thing.”
